Rick Hinckley, the third candidate in the election for Place 1, announced his withdrawal today for personal reasons. Of course, I’m always sorry to hear of anyone’s suffering and offered my condolences to him and his family in a phone conversation today. In conjunction with his withdrawal, Mr. Hinckley had already offered his endorsement of me by way of a Letter to the Editor of the Star Telegram prior to our conversation. I deeply appreciate his endorsement and acknowledgement that now is not an optimal time for him to take on such a big responsibility. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
I’m not sure how or if this affects the election process since the rules for winning are different in a 3 person vs. a 2 person race, but we will be sure to let you know. In the meantime, please plan on voting on Monday, April 30th or soon after so we can win this election without the discussion of a runoff in June! Thank you so much for your faith in me!
